Sinopec Hubei Fertilizer Company pulverized coal gasification-low water/gas sulfur-resistant shift new process project was successfully started up

2012-01-01

Sinochem News Network News On January 1, Sinopec Hubei Fertilizer Branch’s pulverized coal gasification-low water/gas sulfur-tolerant conversion new process project was successfully launched. It saves about 20 tons of steam per hour and has significant energy saving and consumption reduction effects. This is the second time that this technology has been promoted and applied after Baling Petrochemical. Previously, among the 9 sets of Shell pulverized coal gasification ammonia production units that my country has signed, 8 sets of ammonia production units with a total annual production capacity of about 3 million tons have adopted the high water/gas conversion process. The successful development of this demonstration project will serve as a good guidance and demonstration for other similar devices with existing high water/gas conversion processes.

According to reports, the company adopted Shell coal gasification technology in 2003 to implement the "coal-to-oil" transformation of fertilizer raw materials. After it was put into operation at the end of 2006, many problems arose: the water-to-gas ratio of the conversion device was high, the outlet temperature of the final stage was high, the medium-pressure steam consumption per ton of ammonia was as high as 1,600 kilograms, the operation of the conversion furnace was unstable, and the product energy consumption and cost were high. To this end, the company decided to use low water/gas sulfur-resistant shift process technology to transform the existing high water/gas shift process. In May 2011, the renovation project was listed as a low-carbon technology innovation and industrialization demonstration project by the National Development and Reform Commission. After the demonstration project is successfully applied, it will first solve the problems of unstable operation of the conversion section of these devices, high steam consumption, and prone to methanation side reactions when converting high-concentration CO raw gas, and open up a path for the production of syngas through pulverized coal gasification with stable production and operation. , transform new process paths with significant energy-saving effects.

The new low water/gas sulfur-tolerant shift process was developed by Qingdao Lianxin Chemical Co., Ltd., which makes full use of the low water content of the raw gas in the Shell waste boiler process, and controls the first reactor shift reaction by controlling the water-gas ratio in the process gas. Depth, and then control the hot spot temperature of the bed, to partially transform high-concentration CO under the condition of low hot-spot temperature (no methanation side reaction will occur), so that Shell pulverized gas with high CO concentration (CO content > 60%) Chemical technology can be implemented under low water/gas stable and mild process conditions.

According to reports, my country is vigorously developing new coal chemical industries such as coal-to-olefins, coal-to-hydrogen, and coal-to-coal indirect oil-to-liquids. In addition to coal-water slurry coal gasification technology, they can all use low water/gas conversion technology, and the technology application potential is huge.
