In order to save energy and reduce consumption, reduce carbon emissions, and achieve efficient, low-consumption, and environmentally friendly production, Sinopec Hubei Zhijiang Fertilizer Plant implemented a transformation process for the 300,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia unit, which was listed as a "low-carbon innovation technology and industrialization demonstration project in the petrochemical industry" by the National Development and Reform Commission. After the transformation, the unit was started up once on December 31, 2011, which reduced steam consumption, solved the problem of overheating of the conversion furnace, and no methanogenic side reaction occurred, achieving energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and stable production operations.
